My apologies to everyone as I thought my latest update had been posted to our website but apparently when I hit save, it did not work!
The weather has been awful and we sure are ready for spring!! There have been a lot of things going on the past few months here at CVRS. With the economy taking it's toll on everyone, we too have been hit hard buy the inflated prices on everything like hay, feed, beet pulp, etc. We have been diligently working on fundraisers, so far have held 3 and we have another hoagie sale going on now. This time the hoagies are coming from Side Street Cafe. The orders, along with the money are due Feb 26th and hoagies will be delivered on march 5th. If anyone reading this would like to help us sell or you would like to buy hoagies, please contact us.
Our last hoagie sale was right before Christmas and we went through Brenneman's market. We had to make the hoagies ourselves and with the weather being nasty that day we did not have as many people as we would have liked. Since the weather has been such an issue, we decided to try Side Street's hoagies this time as they make them for us and we just pick up and deliver :)
CVRS has bills coming in every month just like any other non-profit so the funds that were made helped to fill our loft with over 200 yummy bales of hay for the horses. We also had feed, farrier and other bills to cover also.
We are hoping this hoagie sale will be another success as we will have the farrier here again on teh 18th and a rather large vet bill in a few months when we have spring vaccines and dentals done on all the horses. We had generous neighbors (thank you Heather and Dave W.) who donated 20 bales of hay today so with the other bales we already purchased we are hoping we have enough until the new hay is ready.
All of the horses are doing very well and I can tell they are also ready for spring......LOL! We are in the process of discussing the plans for the new barn we would like to build this summer. We also have to discuss run-ins as they are very much needed. The thoughts of having a community day open to the public was discussed. The plan would be to have some educational stations along with a fence painting project. Our goal here at CVRS is to involve the animal lovers of the community to join us not only to learn but also to realize we can have fun too!
Again as always, if anyone has any suggestions or you would like to visit us at CVRS, please contact us.
About CVRS
- Cozee Valee Rescue
- Huntingdon, PA, United States
- We at Cozee Valee provide our animals with a safe haven away from the neglect, abuse, abandonment and the emotional torment they have been subject to. We also assist with rescuing and placing slaughter bound horses. We are a hands-on rescue that believes staying small is the key to our success. At our rescue it is all about the quality not the quantity. When it is time for our horses to find their forever home, we strive to find the most suitable home possible. Each animal that is placed in our care will receive our full efforts to ensure that they never experience an auction ring, slaughter facility or the cruel life they had before we acquired them.
